On 14 April 2010, a Magnitued 7.1 earthquake hit Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Region in Qinghai province with death toll surpassing 2000, and caused large number of casualties and heavy property loss. After the disaster, Mr Hui Wing Mau, JP, Chairman of Shimao Group and Staff of Shimao have always been concerning about the disaster area, paying close attention to the life of victims and the progress of rescue and relief work. On 19 April, Shimao Group and all staff donated 5 million RMB to the affected areas through China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, helping the local people take the pain away and rebuild their homeland.

Shimao Group and its founder Mr. Hui Wing Mau have long been dedicated to the social welfare undertakings and repaid the society actively with actual action. Especially when serious natural disasters come, they have always made every effort within their capacity to the disaster areas at the first time in the spirit of dedication and helping the poor. No matter the serious snow disaster in Southern China or Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, Shimao always made donations at the earliest time and actively appealed to Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and Enterprises to dedicate their love to disaster regions.
