On 25 Dec 2009, Shimao Group was honored as "100 Star Enterprises of Overseas Chinese in China, 2003-2005" selected by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. It has been the third time since Shimao Group won the honor in 2003 and 2006.

During the three years from 2006 to 2008, Shimao Group has been rapidly growing in mainland and playing an increasingly important influence in the society. Several significant innovation of the enterprise including being listed on Stock Ex-change of Hong Kong Limited(SEHK) as a whole, integration of enterprise business strategy and enterprise assets restructure, has tremendously affected the development and structure of the whole industry . Meanwhile, Shimao also plays the key role in the community. Besides the important contributions in Southern China snow disaster, Wenchuan earthquake and the other natural disasters, Shimao Group which has been widely recognized and praised by all sectors of the community, spared no effort to the charity undertakings. Being nominated for “100 Star Enterprises of Overseas Chinese in China” for the third time shows the high recognition of the government for its contribution to social economic construction.

The selection activity of “Star Enterprises of Overseas Chinese” organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the PRC, is aiming to commend the overseas Chinese enterprises which have made contributions to the economic construction and social progress in mainland, to enhance the community's understanding of overseas Chinese enterprises, to further stimulate the passion of its participating in China’s economic construction and promoting the scientific and technological progress and social development, and to promote the further development of the overseas Chinese enterprises. The selection was held twice respectively in 2003 and 2006.
