In a time of the first anniversary of Wenchuan Earthquake, filled with the grief of the dead, as well as the concern of post-disaster reconstruction, Mr. Hui Wing Mao, JP, Chairman of Shimao Group and Mr. Hui Sai Tan, Vice Chairmen of Shimao Property led nearly 10 people of Shimao Group to disaster region in Sichuan on 10 May, to examine donated projects and express sympathy for the victims.

Meanwhile, nearly 10 people of Shimao Group attended the “Appreciation for the Love of Overseas Chinese - Well-known Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and Overseas Chinese Media’s Trip to Sichuan” activity held by the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and Sichuan Provincial Government. They also attended a series of activities such as the opening ceremony of “Overseas Chinese Family” in Dujiangyan, Pengzhou, Qingchuan, Yingxiu Town in Wenchuan, Dongpo District in Meishan, Hanwang Town in Mianzhu, Beichuan and etc, bringing the deep concern of overseas Chinese for the victims.

On 12 May, as the first completed school of “double-hundred projects" post-earthquake reconstruction in China's State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office "overseas Chinese love project", the inaugurated ceremony of Dongpo Shangyi Central Primary School in Meishan City, Sichuan Province donated by Shimao Group was grandly held. Along with the singing of "Grateful Hearts" by teachers and students, Mr. Hui Wing Mau and relevant leaders of the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office visited the newly built school buildings which have been put into use.

Seeing the bright classrooms of Shangyi Central Primary School, Mr. Hui Wing Mau said, the careful guidance and strict supervision of Governments at all levels in the process of construction, helped the "overseas Chinese Love School" completing successfully with the donor's hope realized. The confidence and morale of people in disaster areas, especially the students, show the fine tradition of the Chinese Nation. They courageously stood up, "I was deeply touched."
  
After the earthquake, the donations and pledges of Mr. Hui and Shimao Group to the disaster region added up to more than RMB110 million. The donated projects are located in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu Province and other quake-hit regions.
