Aug 10 2009, Qingdao Shi’ao Tower held a grand laying foundation ceremony in the morning. Mr. Yan Qijun, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Shandong Province, Secretary of CPC Qingdao Committee; Mr. Hu Shaojun, Vice Mayor of Qingdao; Mr. Hui Wing Mau, Vice-Chairman of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce, JP, Chairman of Shimao Group; Mr. Wang Aiguo, Chairman of Qingdao Urban Construction Group; Ms. Hui Meimei, Chairman of Shanghai Shimao Co., Ltd and leadership of the relevant units attended the ceremony.

Mr. Hui Wing Mau, Chairman of Shimao Group said in his speech, with the implementation of the strategy of Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and Yellow River Delta Ecological Economic Zone, Shandong will become a new economic engine of China and have tremendous business opportunities. Shimao will take an active part in the development of Shandong and focus on Qingdao as key regional investment city. As the first project Shimao invests in Qingdao, with the first class design and working team, Qingdao Shi’ao Tower will become a high-bright spot on the city skyline as well as the model of achieving high-end urban complex in Shandong.
Mr. Wang Aiguo, Chairman of Qingdao Urban Construction Group said in his speech, the construction of Shi’ao Tower will lead Qingdao to be a more convenient, more efficient and more prosperous harbor city.
Mr. Hu Shaojun, Vice Mayor of Qingdao also put high hopes on Shi’ao Tower in his speech, “Shi’ao Tower is a key development project supported by Qingdao government and a new breakthrough of Qingdao real estate development. While enhancing the city image, it will also promote the development of the city and related industries.”
Qingdao Shi’ao Tower is located in the prime area of Qingdao - Peninsula Central Business District. The total construction area is about 240,000 square meters. It is near Qingdao Fashion Minjiang Street in north and Fushanwan scenic spot in south. Close to 2008 Beijing Olympics Games sailing center, it has convenient transport and completed public facilities. Upon completion, Qingdao Shi’ao Tower will become a CBD landmark with hotels, commercial offices and residential. The main building, which is 339 meters high, will be the highest building in the North and the highest residential in China.
