5 July 2009, Shimao Group held a grand ceremony in Le Meridien Sheshan, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Shimao’s entry into Chinese mainland real estate market and the 3rd anniversary of Shimao Property’s IPO. Mr. Hui Wing Mau, JP, Chairman of Shimao Group, together with thousands of Shimao staff attended the ceremony.
20 years ago, Shimao entered the real estate market in mainland China for the first time. In the spirit of "Cultivating Life Taste" concept, Shimao pioneered the “Riviera Model”; with the persistence of “Accomplishing Urban Dreams”, Shimao fulfilled the ideal of “City Management”. 3 years ago, Shimao Property Holdings, the flagship enterprise of Shimao Group, successfully IPO on Hong Kong main board market for the first time. It was widely sought after by domestic and foreign investors, and became the Morgan Stanley Capital International Index and China Standard Index.
Mr. Hui Wing Mau said, seizing the opportunity of China’s opening and reform and rapid development of China's economy, Shimao has owned more than 40 projects in 20 cities all over the country. In the first half 2009, the performance of the group was gratifying. It achieved a total operating income of 13.6 billion, in which the property sales reached 13.1 billion. Besides the frequent good news of sales, the development of Shimao new projects made breakthroughs after more than one year’s silence. Shimao Property and Shimao Stock, two listed companies of the Group, will advance side by side overwhelmingly after their reorganization in May. Meanwhile, he pointed, the real estate industry will continue to prosper under the national objective of ensuring economic growth and promoting domestic demand. Furthermore, under the moderate easy-monetary policy, large-scale money input will increase the liquidity of capital market. The appearance of the inflation will stimulate great amount of investment demand, which brings the further prosperity of real estate market. Facing a new round development opportunities of China’s real estate industry, Shimao will continue to improve its core competitiveness and management level, to boost confidence and make unremitting efforts and achieve even greater performance!
